Art Nouveau Earrings by Ellygator Art Nouveau Earrings by Ellygator
(2008) 1"x 3/4" per earring excluding the ear-wire, art clay silver (cut, filed, fired, antiqued and polished), 2 lab cabs, bezel wire, ear-wire finding, pure silver wire

I've actually gone off wearing earrings since I started to wear my hair open most of the time a few years ago, but when :iconfaeriedivine: asked for a pair of these set with onyx as part of an art trade I could not resist and made a trial pair with my favorite stones - labradorites.

Once I realized I could pull off this rather thin, fragile and delicate design I was happy to fulfil my part of the bargain, and what I got in return just blew me away. Don't you love it?! [link]

Thank you! This pair's long gone, I'm afraid, but I can always make up another one. Note me if you're interested, please.

Thank you! I think it's about as small and fiddly as you can take clay and not break it... I held my breath a lot while making these...

The labradorite you used is stunning! Also very interesting to know that it's possible to make such a delicate thing out of the silver art clay. I've been wanting to tinker with that myself for quite some time.

Thank you! It was a little touch-and-go: definitely took the medium to its limits. Still, it's a great material, and I hope you get the chance to work with it some time.

What do you have them on in the picture? It looks like a porcupine quill..

Gorgeous artwork, by the way. :D

Thank you, and yes, I used the quill to hang them from for display. My Dad found a whole lot of them one summer in northern Italy.

My dad makes knives, and when he took me to the knife shows with him there was always a man that would hand them out. I haven't seen one in so long I'm surprised I recognized it. Very interesting.

That's a cool memory. I love the strong banding of the stripes on them.

It's more how you can see the texture, for me, though it's smooth to the touch. You can see the fibres, even in the picture. ^^; Maybe that's how I could identify it.
