(2009) 11x13.5 in, Pencil on Paper.

I've been re-reading DH for a drabble challenge recently and remembered a scene that Harry sees as he is channeling Voldemort: it was actually Lucius who was commanded to fetch Snape, so Voldemort could set Nagini on him and kill him.

I wanted to draw dead Snape for a while, but wasn't too chuffed at having to draw the canon scene with him and the trio, so I imagined, what if Lucius went to check on his comrade after the kids had left and found him, only to realize to what fate he had summoned him and betrayed his friend's trust.

Seeing that as a family the Malfoys and Snape seem to have a good understanding, I think it would have touched Lucius to have played a part in Snape's demise, and would have cemented his realization that Voldemort had betrayed them all, a belief that eventually causes the Malfoys to rebel against their master.

"Betrayal" as a title therefore works on many levels.

Oh wow what a dramatic scean, so tuching in a way too :)
I love how you've drawn them and the feeling the picture gives is very dark and i love it.
Also your concept is great too and thinking about it i think that could work as a loop hole in the story itself :XD:
Well done.

For you, the day Reikan graced your planet was the most important day of your life.
But for me, it was Tuesday.

The composition, balance and tension you have captured in this piece are all brilliant! As usual your drawing technique is masterful and the moment hangs there suspended forever! i'm sure I told you that my studio when I was Head of Art at a High school was only 25 metres from the Castle used as Hogwarts in the first movie! Some of my sixth form group were in it! Cheers!

This is great-- your drawing, as always, is fantastic, and I love that you created a really believable scene that adds to the story. :)

Yes, I completely agree with your reasoning and character analysis. This scene is also stunning and poignant. The placement of the two men compositionally underscores the heartbreaking nature of the scene, the nearness and yet distance of their heads in space, Snape's limp foot etc, without ever relinquishing the wonderful subtlety of the whole thing.
