(2012) 44" x 44", stained glass (opalescent flame, green and brown; white streaked gray, purple and transparent), copper foil, solder, iron rods.
We recently got our bathroom remodeled which included covering the walls around the bathroom window in slate tiles. Because this made the window opening a little smaller I needed to replace the old stained glass window we had before with a new and slightly smaller design.
I wanted to use some of the colors that I had used in the old window like the purple, white and flame and some that could be found in the new tiles, such as greens, grays and browns, but also let in enough light, so the resulting design combines nearly transparent glass on the sides with a darker frame and central composition.
Here's the old window for which I now need to find a new purpose (or sell it...)
