(2007), peacock feathers, cardboard, glue, green satin fabric, beads (tiangle, size 15 and 11 seed beads and delicas in gold and metal tones), freshwater pearls, nylon thread, eye-closure.
Well, I meant to put up the next of my seasonal bracelets at first, but then decided that New Year's Day needed a bit more of a splash!
So here is a peacock feather fan I made as a decoration for my study. I covered a cardboard fan with green satin fabric and glued down the feathers in a nice semi-circle.
Then I pressed the whole arrangement in a makeshift press overnight to bond everything together. To cover the area where the feathers were glued down, I made a large brick-stitch fan using a broad variety of beads and pearls to match the colors of the peacock feather eyes.
As the last step I fixed a small metal eye from a hook and eye closure at the top of the back of the cardboard by sewing it on the satin and hung the whole arrangement on the wall where it makes for a nice and dramatic bit of decoration.
