Horcrux by Ellygator Horcrux by Ellygator
(2007) Approximately 1 1/2"x2". Silver Art Clay, pure silver wire, green transparent enamel, liver of sulphur.

This replica of Slytherin's locket that will be on the cover of the British adult version of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" was commissioned by :iconperselus:

I took a few liberties with the original, such as not make a locket, but rather a medallion, and instead of setting a gazillion of small cut emerals into the design I used green enamel to highlight the letter, but the rest of it is pretty authentic.

I first cut the oval out of a piece of rolled out clay and added the silver wire on top. After drying I carved the "S" and the ornamentation into the greenware, fired it, cleaned it, added the enamel, fired again and finally antiqued and polished the silver to bring out the detail.

The final piece also has a bail finding added at the top, but as I really needed to get it to the post office at that time, I didn't take another shot of it.

Thank you! It's really easy on silver clay, because you don't need to prepare the metal through pickling etc.

Thanks so much. Actually it was inspired by the adult version cover of the British edition of one of the books. The movie horcrux will look very different. The Noble Collection will be selling a replica with a kind of huge prehnite-like cut gemstone on top. I saw it on their preview catalog...

I ordered Malfoy's walking stick a couple of months ago, so they send me the preview items per post now. The pendant should be up on their website, soon.

This could easily be regarded as a prototype for Julia fractal Awards -- A beautiful piece worth of a distinction, if not already -- Fav

Can you get this silver clay stuff from any craft store? Or would you have to specially order it? Your jewlery is just super and I love it. Is this stuff expensive to make?

Actually I am getting all my supplies here: [link] They are a great resource and have tons of information and also an online shop where you can buy clay and accessories. The stuff is pricey, but I really haven't found any of the other suppliers be any cheaper. [link] has cheaper normal clay, but because I use slow-dry, which they don't carry, it's not helping me much.

Well thank you for this information. Can you make chokers? If I were to design a shape for you and give you the money, would you make something for me? I'd like something for my wedding and I can never find anything to wear in normal shops. I'll give you the design and just tell me how much it would cost. If you would like to.

Your jewellery is so beautiful, Elly!

I've only just started in art clay and can't afford to buy much yet, so I'm keeping things tiny! I also want a kiln as soon as I can, for enamelling and stones, etc!

Keep doing what you're doing as you have a real talent for it!!

I've seen your Severus and I am already very impressed! I really hope you get to experiment and develop your new talent. And I agree it's a pricey hobby. Hopefully you can pick up a kiln for a reasonable sum!
