La Luna

(2005) 0.5"x2" including bail. Silver Art Clay, 20 gauge silver wire, liver of sulfur, sweetwater pearl.

I sculpted the little double moon face first, then made a mold of it and used it to shape the silver art clay. The connectors are made from pure silver wire that was pasted to the imprint with more clay, then sanded smooth before kiln-firing, to make it look as if it was one seamless piece.

I connected the pendant to a self-made bail and added a little sweet-water pearl dangle at the bottom. Pearls are associated with water and the moon.

The whole piece is worked over with a burnisher, then dipped in liver of sulfur for a nice patina feel and finally polished up. The necklace is my old trusty foxtail chain assembled from silver jump-rings.
