(2010), 3" x 9", size 15 seed beads (dark metallic brown, silver-lined smoke, silver-lined teal, honey iris), nylon thread, ocean jasper accent beads.

I'm branching out from my sole dedication to Miyuki beads and trying my hand at Tohos and Matsunos. In this design the silver-lined smoke beads are Tohos. They have a sheen to the silver-lining and a color subtlety in the glass that seems somehow different from Miyuki.

As for the title, that was simply inspired by the accent beads: they have a wonderful rich teal color broken by a cream and brown varied matrix. Great stones!

I really love it! I have a question. How was working with the tohos? I love my delicas and dont like to use others, just wondering what your opinion was.

So far I am seeing very little difference in quality to the miyukis, both makes have the same exacting standards and uniform feel. If you're looking for a color or effect that you just can't get with the delicas, you can even swap one make for the other. I've done a few projects now where I mixed and matched - to no ill effect.

Amazing ... have I said that about your work before?? lol! But just one question ... how's your eyesight?!? Mine can only cope with 15's in small doses!

Thanks so much! And I do hear you on the bead size. Fortunately I've always been near-sighted, and old age farsightedness hasn't set in yet (knocking on wood!)
