Artist's Comments

(2008), 15"x9", Size 15 seed beads (pale turquoise lined transparent iris, 14k gold, glossy black opaque), porcupine quill, drilled paua shell pieces, nylon thread

This Peyote-stitch bead tapestry has occupied me for most of the year so far - always adding a few rows on an evening or a weekend. It's the largest design I've done so far and I am quite pleased with how it's turned out. The nice thing about large designs with small beads is the fact that lines and shapes become more smooth and look less "pixellated".

It's beautiful! Is that one small loop though strong enough to hold it, or do you have some other plans for hanging it?

So far it's been fine and I think the weight is not too much. Thanks so much!

What an interesting piece. The design on the hanging has echoes in the darker areas of the shells, which I assume, knowing you, was completely intentional. The correlation in shapes, colors and lines brings a cohesive and finished look to this unusual bead work. I agree about how nicely the design flows given the small size of the beads.

Cool work.

Do you serve Nocturna or Cama Zotz? Choose wisely; Cama Zotz gives out shiny star stickers to his followers. :star:

pffs..tt..sssshh (stumbles over words) I once again am amazed by your ability. This must have required many hours of work. Do you sell your work in a particular place are they commission pieces or are they just for your artistic expression?
