"I found this piece really stunning. The original design is so well balanced and executed. The colours are discreetly harmonising. And the whole concept really is genius."

Description
(2010), 10.5" x 5", Ultrasuede, nylon thread, cardstock, seed beads (size 15s in black, palladium, silver-lined teal, silver-lined ice, matte gunmetal, matte metallic green; size 11s in silver-lined teal, green and aqua), green paua shell cabs, porcelain face bead, green satin, magnet, metal disk
This beast of an embroidery project has kept me busy and stitching these past few months. I started with the two emblems on the flap and back, then stitched the silver border around the outside and around the paua cabs, and finally filled in the rest of the design in snake-stitch.
After the overall pattern was done, I backed the design with a cardstock cut-out for stiffness and a second layer of ultrasuede, trimmed the surplus cloth, stitched edges around the bag and closed up the sides. I finally secured the flap with a magnet embedded in the design and covered with a small piece of green satin. On the flap a larger paua shell disk is backed with metal and keeps the flap closed by adhering to the magnet.
This makes for a very nice, spacious and sturdy clutch. Now I just have to find a killer event to take it to!
