(2011), pencil on paper, 9"x12"
This was a commission from Chthonia, writer of the famous "Invictus" fanfic, and I was absolutely chuffed she wanted me to draw a picture of young Lucius.
She gave me a great description of his somewhat swaggering pose and I was glad to find a terrific reference that suited my imagination in the gallery of
.
I used a younger facial image of Jason, but still wanted Lucius to look haughty and disdainful, and I gave him slightly curly hair and a different part, thinking this would also serve to make him look younger.
Of course I couldn't resist putting the peacocks into the picture, and I added a somewhat symbolic garden landscape. Around the house everything is very strict and ordered, but where Lucius stands the ground is somewhat wild and untended with weeds, a simple wood fence and broken flagstones.
I think when he took over management of the estate from Abraxas, he shouldered a lot of responsibility, and his wild, young ways had to be curbed as he had to step into the ways of his ancestors. He may have felt some resentment about that, as he so often rebukes Draco when he senses the boy is acting irresponsibly...
It also stands for the danger and ruination that he himself brought to the boundaries of his home and family when he joined the Death Eaters, until it finally overwhelmed him.

Wow du gibst dir immer so schon viel Mühe nicht nur den Charakter sondern auch Kleinigkeiten und Hintergründe gut zu gestalten!
Ich mag dein Malfoy Manor lieber als die Filmversion (das erinnerte mich mehr an ein französisches Schloß als an englisches manor im klassischen Sinne) und das du die Pfauen eingebaut hast ist einfach genial
Vor Harry Potter wusste ich nicht, dass es etwas noch kitschigeres und anmutigeres gibt als Schwäne ^^
Außerdem passt es von der Aussage sehr gut zu den Malfoys, dass männliche Pfauen es mit dem Wetteifern über hübsches Aussehen im Laufe ihrer Evolutionsgeschichte so übertieben haben, dass es überlebnstechnisch ein Nachteil für sie wurde. Und das hier sind nicht nur Pfauen sondern albino Pfauen!
Sie kommen hier auch so richtig schön fluffig rüber und ich finds gut das einer seinen Schweif ausfährt und der andere nicht.
