It's been a while since I've done a journal feature singling out an individual artist, but for the last few months I've truly enjoyed watching the art of

:iconamarenostyle:

Their jewelry has a well-balanced classical feel with just the right admixture of whimsical, ethnic and organic elements to make each of their pieces individual and unique, but still very wearable and versatile. I love their inspired use of stone mixtures as well. Oh, and the presentation - just flawless!

After we've had to endure two separate weeks of severely cold temperatures for Texas and some ice and snow as well, it looks like the weather is giving us a break right now. Temperatures are in the upper 60s, and I for one am not complaining. I've just finished a miserable 10 days of some kind of weird cold that settled on my eyes and gave me a nasty bout of conjunctivitis, so I am glad I can finally see again and go outside.

The yard of course is a total train-wreck after all the freezing temperatures and some plants like my gardenias and jasmines are a total write-off this year, so I'm spending my weekend split between carving some silver clay pieces and attacking my frost-corpses with my trusty rose snippers.

Posting's been a little slow for me, but that's because I am putting so much time into a bead-embroidered evening bag. I am working on the back panel right now, and I think it will be quite stunning when it's done. But it's seriously eaten up thousands and thousands of beads, and weeks and weeks worth of time, so most other projects have been languishing.

Work is good - just had a client contract extended till the end of May, which is fabulous, and I am working on a few training assignments in between So far this year looks very promising. Hopefully we're done with cold snaps as well, and can look forward to spring now!

Hope this time the thawing is for real and you can get back to healing and crafting. Send some green up my way if spring does indeed come for you guys!

(And plans for where you're going to use this evening bag?)

I hear you on the weather! It's been up and down a little for the past few days, but nothing very cold any more. Like you I hope the good weather is here to stay.

Sounds like a good project, this handbag... but demanding too. Hopefully the weather will get better for you. Send the snow my way, if you can lol

Thank you! We're doing better now - people here are just not equipped for winter: the houses are badly insulated and hard to heat, the roads aren't well cleaned, car drivers hit the brakes when they see a speck of black ice on the roads, heck even the electrical companies panic and switch off the juice. It's a zoo!

Thank you, and yes, temperatures are climbing. In fact some of the trees now show a shimmer of green!

I'm right on the border of Oklahoma in Arkansas and the weather has been crazy! But it's been in the low 70's/upper 60's all last week. Today is a beautiful drizzly day with the temperature at 60 right now. I know it's just the February thaw (I have to laugh, growing up in MI, there's no such thing, lol) but it smells of Spring and there's no greater smell than a wet Spring morning/day! :) Glad you're feeling better! I'd have to do some serious praying for enough patience to do a beaded purse! Or a beaded anything for that matter! lol

Machen Sie einen schonen Tag!

Dankeschoen! I feel the same about those first warm, gray spring days. We've had some of that weather Wednesday and Thursday, and this morning I noticed a shimmer of green on some of the neighborhood trees. I love those days where you can just feel it in your bones that winter is over...
