Now featuring the winner of 2nd prize for my "Four Elements" summer contest

:iconasarea:

I love her bold, wood-cut-like designs that seem to be able to reduce a character and situation to its pure essentials while still feasting the eye on incredibly vivid textures and ornamentation. She truly has a style that is uniquely her own AND she is the creator of an amazing original world populated by wonderful and intriguing characters that you can meet in her gallery.

For about a month now I've had a new lizard. We did not want to keep another leopard gecko after 2 Spots died last winter, so our new companion is a very beautiful little bearded dragon named Mo'o (which is Hawaiian for lizard or dragon). We don't know if Mo'o is a boy or a girl yet, but he's very happy hunting crickets and very tame. He loves being misted down with water and then just hang out in the palm of my hand where it's warm.

Meet Mo'o!

How handy it must be to have a friend who can, um... flip your lizard?

I'll have to definitely, FINALLY add my two dinars to the comments on your latest work tomorrow. I'm bat-blind from assembling calendars today, but at least they're lovely! [link]

LOL! I guess so!

Love the calendars. Of course you already know my personal favorite: Lions and Light! Yummy!

*lol* I guessed that "Lions & Light" would grab your attention--no surprise, given that your "Illumination" is the cover boy! I was surprised to find myself a few lions short of a full calendar of newbies, so I borrowed a few of my best from the year before. Since you're one of five people (how I wish I were kidding) that actually bought calendars last year, I didn't feel too bad about that!

Man, that's too bad. I am kind of bummed about my own online offerings as well, that's why my etsy shop is nearly always empty and most days I don't even bother activating the print option here on DA. I think we're still in the days where everyone turns over every penny twice before buying any kind of "luxury" item.

Etsy has good weeks interspersed with "Why am I bothering?" periods, but that's true of my vocation, in general! Thankfully, I have several regular clients and cons which, while always a gamble, usually have returns that range from decent to "Woo-hoo!" Hopefully my latest lion (handsome fellow--almost wish he hadn't sold!) and other pieces will bring some attention to my current commission deal. Through crazy happenstance and sweet, sweet specials, I have all of my Christmas shopping done save for my pirate, and I know EXACTLY what I'm ordering for him. Thus, now it's back to plumping up savings! *smile*

Gosh, that is wonderfully organized. I normally try to be set by the end of November at the latest - mostly it has to do with the fact that half the stuff I buy still has to be shipped over to Europe, so I always need to tack on a few weeks of transit time. I need to get my ass in gear and get looking here pretty soon. All I have at the moment are a bunch of photo calendars for family...

Mo'o is sooo adorable. I grew up in South East New Mexico where "horny toads" (not a toad at all actually) were all over the place and they actually look a lot like a bearded dragon. I used to catch them all the time! Mo'o is awesome! (great name too!)

Thank you! I think horny toads are awesome! Something that eats ants and can squirt blood from their eyes just rules! I am so happy you were able to be around them for real.

I've probably caught close to a hundred of them so far in my life and not a single one has ever squirted blood from anywhere. I still swear it is a myth. LOL But I do indeed like the little critters.

I've seen it on the Discovery channel once, but never for real. It's kind of sad living in Texas and not seen a live one so far. I've seen collared lizards, green anolis of course and geckos, but never a horny toad...

I guess you were just nice enough to them that they didn't feel they had to put on a big show to scare you off!
