I guess I am feeling random again, so instead of featuring a particular artist, here's a few recent faves that feature - or remind me - of my favorite bird, the proud peacock.

Well, I am officially DONE! Last Saturday I drew the last of my Tarot cards, the 10 of Disks, and this 78 drawing project has finally come to an end. It's actually been quite emotional to say farewell and know I won't draw another card.

I started this in the summer of 2007 with the Queen of Cups and it's been with me for the better part of over one year. I did little else in the way of drawing - except a few commishs.

As far as projects go, this has been one I've wanted to do for a long time, but never had a cohesive vision for an entire deck. To me the Tarot really is an epic journey, and you need an epic vision to pull it together - the Iliad or Odyssey would furnish you images, as would the Edda, and in modern times you could go back to one of our great epic writers - Tolkien.

Rowling's stories qualify as a very modern take on the epic genre, blending the boarding school novel with mystery and epic components such as the hero's quest and the vanquishing of evil. I think what finally tilted the scales for me was the fact that she uses the four elements so extensively in her imagery, and to me the minor arcana have always had immensely powerful elementary connotations.

In the next few days I'll try and finish up a description of all the cards - traditional meanings as well as interpretations of the images I chose from the novels, and then I'll be sending a request both to JKR's agent and to WB to see if I get permission to attract a publisher to have a commercially available deck printed.

Barring that I can offer the deck as a privately printed edition. I will post more details as I find out how this scenario will play out.

On another note. I'm kinda peeved DA won't let me edit my Feature page any more. I can make all the changes I want on my sub-galleries, and they stick, but anything I move around on the Features page just won't get saved. It's very frustrating. Anyone else have the same problem?

Danke Dir. Ich muss mich jetzt bloss endlich an die Beschreibungen machen. Da hilft es natuerlich, dass ich mir einige der Arbeit durch meine DA Kommentare schon abgenommen habe...
