I wouldn't really call myself an artist. I don't have any kind of real training self taught or otherwise. So my resolution is to do that. Actually sit down and watch a tutorial on youtube (or many of them) and get comfortable with using a computer program for art instead of paper and pencils ^_^
Improving and learning are always there in the background with whatever else I choose (and are, thankfully, being done), other than that, my top priority has become to make a living with art. I have actually made a rating system with which I rate my income from my art as "Social Financial Help", "Retirement Pay" and "Salary" - according to whichever it amounts to any given month. I've only managed to hit he Salary amount twice last year, so that needs improvement!
almost all what you wrote but... let's say I keep it at level of wish and some selfimprovevment. Less procrastinate, less checking of all other things instead of creating more, finally submit everything I want and discover how to keep things organized. Plus many other things, mainly from my project - I'm creating notebooks and diaries so there is lot of space to bring new things :3
Well, but in first line, to finally finish the university (if nothing will went terriblly wrong) this year. Lots of work ahead xD
Looks like 2017 will be a very busy year for you! I hope all will go well with college as well as with your notebook and diary project.
In all fairness I am still looking for some art-based resolution. Part of the reason why I asked was that I was hoping for some inspiration. I finished my latest Tarot deck project last year and will be getting it published this year. But I'm not really big into a fandom these days, so not sure what I'll be doing next from a drawing perspective. I do have some fairly ambitious ideas for some bead embroidery projects...
So glad business is already kicking off! Hope you'll get a lot of interest this year.
I'm not quite sore what I want to do yet. Part of the reason I asked actually - get some inspiration from what my DA friends are planning!
I know I'll be adding a few more drawings to my series of lizard portraits - currently planning to do a frilled lizard in a threat display. I also want to work on a wall-hanging with bead embroidery that features some Chinese jade carvings as center-pieces, but other than that I'm not sure yet. I guess the Tarot Deck last year was such an effort that I'm feeling a tad burned-out at the moment.
yes you sure had a major achievement recently, you deserve a little time of. i always find it hard to get back in the swing after completing a major piece. it's a hard to explain feeling of both achievement and a oh-noes!-now-what? kinda i never thought about whats next whaaa freak out moment LOL.
your wall hanging sounds like a fairly large project. look forward to it i'm sure it will turn out fabulousssss
Looking to expand my customer base, so I am starting to design in crochet now as well. I'm starting with hats, because I have a cousin going through chemo, so I send the prototypes to her! That way she can stay warm and still look dressy.
Thank you! I hope it will too. I'm making a whole line of these very elegant and dressy chemo hats to make her feel more glam and more like herself. Then I can go on to sell the patterns later, so other people can get a boost too!
I just want to finally be able to get BACK to my art. So much standing in the way. I have some things I can scan from my doodle journals, but haven't had much time to do that either, and my scanner is buried now too! *sigh* Hopefully soon...
Frankly, the concept of 'resolutions' seems senseless to me. For me its always about the same, work hard, try not to waste time, improve what i know and learn what i dont, gain new clients. Fairly obvious goals for an artist. Not sure why it needs a special 'resolution'.
That's usually how I approach resolutions (or not) for healthy living. I try to be good regardless, work out and watch what I eat, not just thinking about it in January.
In art I usually think about what I want to do more at the beginning of the year. I think I'm concentrating on it so much right now, because I've finished my latest deck and will get it published and feel I am not sure yet what I'll tackle as my next big thing. I think I'm a bit burned out drawing and don't want to do the same bead projects. Maybe I'll just have to be patient and wait for what will excite me next...
I think looking for a new project to interest and delight you is great, but its something we do any time the previous one ends, it just coincided with a new year with you i guess. I'm very fond of your bead work. Wonder what will you pick up now. For me there's so many things i wanna do, but the trick is combining it with paid work, and sticking to fields without excessively expensive art-supplies
A deadline can only be put on things that depend on you. Stuff like amount of followers is in big part a result of algorithm workings. Resolutions are one of those weird cultural fads that seem to do more ill than good. Goals are worthy. Arbitrary restrictions, in my opinion, less..
