As the four elements move into the 3s, we see the results of the 2s meeting and interacting. There is a sense of consolidation of opposites and a sense of now being able to “get on with it” to come to grips with something new. The 3s are also aligned with the planet Saturn, the planet the ancients associated with time, with limitations, endings and the boundaries of the solar system. If you connect three points for the first time you have a figure where a boundary encloses a finite space, so the association is very appropriate.
For Earth and the aspect of our material existence and surroundings it means that now that we have substance to work with, well, we work. In a sense the card teaches us to accept the limitations of our physical existence and then set out to transform them and make of them the best we can. Our work will be successful and recognized. We can harvest the fruits of our labor and we will attain full self-realization. We are looking forward to a strenuous time of dedication and focus, but in the end we will achieve the results we strive for.
Traditional versions of the card show a builder explaining a detail of three carved coins on a building to his clients. He’s worked on his craft and now shows off the mastery he has achieved and the work he has completed. For my card I chose an animal that like no other symbolizes dedication to work and mastery. Bees are architects, dancers, collectors of nectar and pollen, nurses and fierce defenders of their hive. I also felt that the warm rich sweetness of their honey connected them beautifully to the element of Earth. Honey is a potent and condensed essence of thousands of flowers brought together by hundreds of workers over hours and hours of their short lives, and it’s a substance that not only nourishes but heals infections and injuries and can help people fight allergies.
In a spread the card signifies that the results of a project are beginning to manifest. You are about to make something happen. Perhaps someone is starting the foundation of a new home. The first chapter of a bestselling novel gets finished. You are able to put a new skill that you have learned to the test and get results. In any case the intentions you have sent out to the universe are beginning to come back to you with results. Remember that you are still just looking at seedlings and buds, it’s not time for the harvest yet. More work and dedication will be required to reap the full fruits of our labor.
For a relationship-related question the card may mean that you and your partner may have put some work into your relationship and that both of your dedication is about to pay off. It could also mean that you are collaborating with a partner or with friends to realize a cherished project or that you should find someone to work with to reach your next goal like a mentor or someone to bounce ideas off of. If the card position points to a business related issue you will see a project you’ve been working on provide its first dividends. Don’t become complacent, yet. Watch how others work or ask for constructive criticism so you can continue to improve. Take time to assess your project to see if it’s still aligned with your goals. Refocus what you do if you have to. Overall your can expect your skills and dedication to turn into profit. In your personal life and development you are looking at a time of intense focus and dedication to realize your goals. Your efforts will pay off.
If the card is uncovered in an adverse or blockage position it could mean that you are feeling listless or scattered and unwilling or unable to dedicate yourself to reaching a goal that you have. Perhaps you lack the energy, perhaps you are distracted by trivial matters or feel overwhelmed by other tasks that occupy your time, perhaps you are disappointed you are not seeing greater results, perhaps you are secretly scared of actually being successful. Find out what’s holding you back, whether it’s laziness or a feeling of being burned-out. What can you do to regain your focus?
