(2003-4) 3'x1.5' Stained glass, copper foil, glass cabs and lead solder.
This is the first in a series of four windows that decorate the arches of our living-room windows. It depicts the spirit of Scorpio which is represented as a Sea Eagle. The window stands for the element of water, the compass direction of the west, the attributes of cold and moisture and the season of fall.
If you happen to be a Christian by belief and see all the windows together, you'll be reminded of the symbols for the 4 Evangelists - another beautiful piece of synergy between the pagans and their successors...
I represented the allusion to the element of water with the glass cabs that are a staple in my "water" pieces.
